~ Susan Drake, LMFT ~
I am deeply committed to providing my clients with a safe and nurturing environment where they can bring awareness to the issues in their lives that they find troubling or even paralyzing. As an interactive therapist, my treatment approach is to provide support and feedback to help clients resolve current problems as well as long-standing ineffective patterns of communication and behavior. With sensitivity and compassion, I help clients find solutions to a wide range of life challenges. Blending conventional and alternative approaches, I draw on a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each individual or couple.
Entering therapy, one may feel the pain of isolation, disconnected from oneself, a partner, or family, possibly coping by distancing or hiding, by fighting or acting out or perhaps by resolving the moment to moment struggles with excessive eating or drinking.
I have over 15 years experience helping individuals and couples with just such problems. I use practical insight into relationships, proven research, empathy and often humor to peel away the blocks we all create that tend to prohibit us from experiencing fully our life’s process. I am supportive, respectful and engaged as I meet my clients where they are. It is with this kind of support that clients will make meaningful discoveries into their individual and partnered lives. Everyone has the ability and capacity to flourish in their lives. I believe that psychotherapy and life coaching are ways to reconnect with, or create anew, one’s life purpose and core values and convictions. I encourage my clients to be curious and courageous in their discoveries about themselves and their partners. We all deserve to live life to its fullest, in whatever way we wish.
